What's all this talk about health insurance? North Reading's health insurance budget will increase 11 percent next year, eating into a large portion of any revenues available for contractual and expense increases to keep the town and schools at level services. Town Meeting, Monday, June 7, 2010
7 p.m., NRHS Auditorium
150 Quorum Required
Two-Thirds Vote Required for Secondary School Feasibility Study

Free onsite childcare available

If you attend just one meeting all year, this is it!

School and town operating budgets will be voted at this meeting, along with capital expenditures. This is the vote that will determine how much funding the School Department has for the 2010-2011 school year, and town leaders have worked hard to craft a budget that maintains education for the 2010-2011 school year.

Finally, the Secondary School Building Committee will request initial funding for a feasibility study for the a new Middle School/High School. This effort represents North Reading's one and only chance in the foreseeable future to develop a project eligible for reimbursement by the School Building Assistance Bureau (SBA). Since the Batchelder reconstruction, the SBA has developed new guidelines that require towns to work with the SBA to develop a project's scope and cost. The SBA will then notify the town of the reimbursement amount BEFORE the town seeks approval from voters.

This is an issue that impacts all parents and taxpayers in North Reading. Please attend to learn the facts and cast your vote on the initial phase of this project.
